Lagos - The Delta State chairperson of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kingsley Esiso, is confident the party will overcome its current problems and reclaim power at the next general elections.
He spoke a year after PDP relinquished power to the rival All Progressives Congress.
“Come 2019, we not only intend to return our Miracle Working Governor to Government House, but by the grace of God and the goodwill of the Nigerians, we intend to produce a president of PDP extraction to Aso Rock, in order to change the change that is presently so negative, so deceitful and so unpopular,” he said.
“The main opposition party in the country will in 2019 take back the reins of governance at the centre.”
Esiso spoke recently at the of the newly elected local government chairmen of the former party.
“You are coming on board at a very critical time in the history of our great party, a time when our party is in the opposition at the centre and therefore the need for us to be more proactive in terms of our dealings with members of our party and the electorate,” Esiso said.
He appealed to the chairpersons to work together for the interest of the party.
“There is the need for you to have regard and respect for various leaders that populate your different local government areas, but please do not and I repeat, do not tie yourself to any particular leader as that will not be the direction of the party under my watch.”
