Lagos - Organised labour comprising of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Thursday embarked on a protest over the rising cost of living in Nigeria.

The protest code named: ‘National day of action against corruption and for good governance’ was held simultaneously in Abuja and Lagos.

Thursday’s protest is coming a few days after the #IStandWithNigeria protest rocked major states in Nigeria.

In Abuja, the NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba led the protest from Unity Fountain via Secretariat road to the Aso Villa.

In Lagos, the protesters led by the Vice-President of the NLC, Amaechi Asugwani, marched  from Yaba, to Ikorodu Road, chanting solidarity songs.

The protest attracted many activists, including former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Charles Oputa, known popularly as Charlie Boy and Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.

The protesters, carried placards with various inscriptions.

The placards which the protesters carried were tagged ‘End corporate greed’, and contained messages such as: ‘Fight against corruption must be holistic’, ‘In the anti-corruption war; a cow is a cow no sacred cow’, ‘Gagging the media = protecting corruption’.
