PHOTOS: Rescued Chibok girl handed over in Borno

19 May 2016, 07:00

Abuja - A rescued Chibok schoolgirl has been returned safely to Borno State after her harrowing ordeal at the hands of Boko Haram insurgents.

According to Naij, Aminu Ali is said to have been airlifted to Maiduguri alongside her baby and husband.

The mother and child were allegedly examined by members of the Nigerian Air Force before receiving a clean bill of health and being released for further investigation.

It is believed that Ali is set to travel to Abuja on Thursday, where she will be reunited with her mother and get to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is set to receive her thursday. She will be brought by the Governor of Borno state, Alhaji Kashim Shettima,” said Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Shehu Garba, according to This Day.

Of the 219 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok in 2014, Ali remains the only who has been rescued safely thus far.

See the pictures of her safe return below.
