Police arrest fake miracle religious syndicate

22 August 2016, 07:31

Abuja - Police in Enugu State arrested a syndicate who specialised in confirming fake prophecies and miracles for religious pastors who claimed that they were hired on a contractual basis by religious leaders, Punch reports.

The group is believed to have also faked healings by pastors to mislead congregants that they were indeed witnessing miracles being performed by the men of God.

Police released the identities of the alleged fraudsters who were arrested while on their way to Ebonyi State where they were to stage fake healings and miracles for an unnamed pastor.

The members of the syndicate would be chosen by a pastor to be either 'healed' or to confirm a miracle in front of the unsuspecting congregation who actually believe that they were witnessing a miracle being performed on a sick person randomly chosen from a crowd.

Religious pastors have often come under scrutiny for their unethical practices and lavish lifestyles with many owning private jets and luxury cars.

Therefore hiring a syndicate of fake members is a small cost to pay to make believers of congregants to encourage them to donate their money to the religious leaders.
