Police arrest traffic robbery suspect

Lagos - The Lagos Police Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Sunday said it had arrested a traffic robbery suspect whose gang terrorised motorists in Lekki-Ajah axis.

This is contained in statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Oladapo Badmos, in Lagos on Sunday.

The statement said the suspect was arrested by the operatives who disguised as passers-by when they were hinted by motorists on the activities of the gang in the Lekki–Ajah Expressway traffic.

It said that the gang disposed motorists on Lekki–Ajah Expressway of their valuables whenever there was traffic.

The statement said that the suspect, aged 22, confessed that he belonged to a two-man traffic robbery gang.

It said the suspect confessed to always distracting motorists by lying that their tyres were flat while another member of the gang picked up valuables from the other side of the passenger’s seat.
