Abuja - The Oyo State Police Command is
taking the war to kidnapping gangs in the state.
This follows the arrest of six members of a gang
terrorising residents in the region.
The arrest of the culprits was announced on Wednesday.
“We will not spare any effort towards the provision of
adequate security and maintenance of peace in the length and breadth of Oyo
State. But, I must commend the governor
for the provision of logistic support to the state police command,”
the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, during a courtesy visit to the Governor of the state,
Abiola Ajimobi, in Ibadan.

The governor commended Ararse for giving adequate support
to the state police command, which he said complemented the strategies adopted
by the state government to achieve the prevailing peace in the state.
He charged the state police command not to rest on its
laurels, in recognition of the crime wave across the country.
“Policing should be based on friendly interaction and
ability to communicate with the people. It should not be an opportunity to
exercise undue power over the people,” Ajimobi said.
The governor also pledged the continued support
of his administration to the police to further enhance the performance of
officers and men of the command.
