Policeman beaten into coma by angry mob

Enugu - A policeman who was attacked and beaten up by a mob in Enugu has died after falling into a coma, Punch reported.

The identity of the policeman has been withheld after he allegedly shot and killed a motorcyclist before the angry mob turned to him.

Spokesperson of Enugu State Ebere Amaraizu has stated that an investigation has been led regarding the death of the policeman.

The policeman is said to have been part of the Nsukka Building Material Taskforce which was regulating business material businesses in town.

The mob was angry that that the police were moving a popular cement dealer out of the area for not paying a fine.

In a similar incident in Lagos, an angry mob beat up a truck driver for causing an accident, according to News24.
