Asaba – At least eight people arrested during protests by pro-Biafra groups in Asaba, Delta State are reportedly likely to face murder charges when they appear in court soon.
According to Daily Sun, the eight would also be charged for other offences.
Public Rela¬tions Officer of the state Police Command, Charles Muka was quoted as saying that investigation was still on-going in the murder of "two patriotic police officers in the line of duty".
A previous News24 report indicated that at least 10 people were killed during protests by pro-Biafra campaigners as they marked the anniversary of the start of Nigeria’s civil war on Monday.
Activists pushing for a separate state for the Igbo people in the southeast were commemorating the 49th annivessary of the independent Republic of Biafra on May 30, 1967.
