Prosecution of Saraki sparks controversy

Abuja - Senate President, Bukola Saraki's over forgery charges has allegedly provoked some controversy in Nigeria, TheNews reported.

Saraki, who has been arrested together with his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu over forging Senate rules when the 8th National Assembly was proclaimed.

According to TheNews, politics in Nigeria are being used to confuse people off real issues.

However, the proclamation of the 8th Senate as well as the election of presiding officers has become null and void due to the alleged forgery.

Since the forgery news broke out, Saraki has claimed that he is innocent although having been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Saraki faces 14 years behind prison if he is found guilty by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
