Relief for refugees with special needs

Abuja - ?The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has started distributing special relief material for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in camps across Maiduguri metropolis.

NEMA's Northeast zonal office distributed the items.

The food and non food items are meant to cater for IDPs with special needs like diabetes patients,babies and nursing mothers. ? ?

The food items distributed to the camps include milk formula for babies, milk, biscuits, custard, wheat, Hungary rice and soya.

The non-food items distributed include slippers,blankets,plates,spoons, body jelly, soap,detergents and dignity kits for lactating mothers. ?

?This distribution is not withstanding the memorandum of understanding signed by the agency and Borno State government.

Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Information Officer ?at NEMA North-East Zone in ?Maiduguri, said NEMA would supply ll food items to be prepared in camps while the state government would provide condiments and other necessities for cooking the food.

Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, is among areas hardest hit by the Boko Haram insurgency that has killed over 20 000 and displaced more than 2 million people.
