Abuja - The House of Representatives Committee on Communications on Monday summoned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, for explanation on the reduction of fine imposed on MTN Nigeria, reports Premium Times.

Also to appear with the ministers before the lawmakers is the Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Garba Dambatta.

Chairman, House Committee on Communications, Shaheed Fijabi, issued the order at the committee’s resumed investigation on the alleged SIM infractions by MTN and the fine in Abuja on Monday.

News24 had reported that the fine imposed on MTN was reduced from N1.04 trillion to N330 billion.

The committee stated that should the summoned government officials fail to honour the committee’s invitation, the House would be compelled to withdraw the approved budget of the communications ministry and would not consider NCC’s budget presently before it.
