Abuja - Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reassured civil servants of government's commitment to their welfare.

Wike gave the assurance during the State Civil Service 2016 New Year Thanksgiving and Dedication Service organized held at the State Secretariat  premises in Port Harcourt.

The governor, who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Ipalibo Harry Banigo, said his administration recognised Civil Service as the engine room of government and promised to inject positive changes that would sanitise the system in line with the policy direction of the New Rivers Vision.

She noted his administration would continue to pay minimum wages and pensions to workers and pensioners as well as gratuities as incentives to staff to boost performance.

Banigo stated that under the “New Rivers Vision”, Government expected workers to be more dedicated, maintain zero tolerance to corruption, shun lateness, absenteeism and  other vices associated with civil service.

“I want to see an excellent civil Service, where the workers would do their work well and stay away from partisan politics as career civil servants,” Banigo said
