Rivers trio quizzed for cloning and forgery

Abuja – Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives in Port Harcourt have arrested three men on suspicion of cloning social media accounts and telephone numbers of prominent people.

The suspects allegedly compromise accounts and contacts of businessmen, politicians and government functionaries.

They have been identified as Obasi Ebere Emmanuel, Nwankwo Christian and Alieze Ikechukwu, arrested at a hotel in the capital city.

EFCC said investigations revealed the suspects send out mails, advertise non-existing job vacancies and forge document of banks and oil companies with which they extort money from unsuspecting members of the public.

A search conducted at their residence is said to have uncovered several implicating documents and laptops.

“The suspects who have admitted to committing the alleged crime will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,” EFCC stated on Thursday.
