Jos - Suspected armed robbers have shot dead Sargwak Wazhi, a former Commissioner who served in the administration of Jonah Jang in Plateau State.
The suspected robbers according to Punch opened fire on the vehicle of the former commissioner, which had Nicholas Vongsing, Council Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Area of the state as one of the passengers.
Wazhi and Vongsing were coming from a peace meeting when they ran into a gang of robbers.
The council boss and the driver survived the attack with bullet injuries.
The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Mathias Terna has confirmed the incident.
He said, “Wazhi died in the attack but his driver and the Chairman, Langtang South Area Council survived, but they sustained bullet injuries. They are currently receiving medical attention at a hospital. I have not received the full briefing of the incident but investigation has commenced, no arrest has been made.”
