Scores killed by herdsmen in Adamawa, Kaduna

Abuja - No less than sixty civilians, along with three policemen, were killed following an attack by gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen on four communities.

According to Punch, more than 200 gunmen invaded the villages of Damsare, Wunamokoh, Dikajam, Taboungo and parts of Fawore.

Othman Abubakar, PR Officer for the Adamawa Police Command, confirmed the killings, adding that the gunmen stole food and livestock before setting the villages alight.

Reporting on the killing of two riot policemen, Ikedichi Iweha, Media Officer for Operation Safe Haven, revealed that the gunmen opened fire on a patrol vehicle, killing the men in the process.

The Executive Director of the Stefanos Foundation, Mark Lipdo, disclosed that some of the villagers had deserted their homes as a result of the violence, while herdsmen have been reported to have begun occupying the areas.
