Abuja - Several people were injured following violent clashes between police and protesting students after a police vehicle was involved in a hit and run incident, Punch reports.
Students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo and men of the state police command were involved in a bloody clash after a police patrol vehicle hit a student, with the officers then abandoning the victim.

This led to many students staging a protest, as police failed to calm down the situation and instead fired tear gas into the crowd to disperse the students.
This immediately inflamed the situation as angered students destroyed nearby cars and buildings.
Many police officers were attacked by students and fired live ammunition into the crowds of students, leaving many injured.
