Several killed as Boko Haram attacks army chief’s village

Maiduguri - Nigerian troops have repelled an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on Buratai town in Borno State, reports NewsDay.

Several armed Boko Haram members were killed in the fierce battle between the troops and the insurgents 

Buratai town is the hometown of the Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Tukur Buratai.

The terrorists came in six vans; three Hilux and three pick-up vans.

The ensuing gun battle between the troops and the Boko Haram members lasted for two hours.

The attackers were forced to return without gaining entry into Buratai.

A source said many of the insurgents were killed and were taken away by their members.

One of the pick-ups used by the terrorists was destroyed by the military and two AK 47 rifles were recovered from the fleeing militants.
