Shiites warn of consequences of detaining, leader El-Zakzaky

Abuja - The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has warned of consequences if their leader, Sheikh El-Zakzaky is continued to be detained, AllAfrica reported.

The group also known as the Shiites, has demanded the unconditional release their leader, El-Zakzaky.

El-Zakzaky together with his wife have been detained since December 2015 following a clash between the Shiites and the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State had put together an inquiry to investigate what had actually happened and the outcomes of the investigation concluded that El-Zakzaky is to be blamed for the many loses because of the clash.

In a statement the Islamic group states "we demand that out leader and wife must be released unconditionally without delay."

El-Zakzaky had asked for bail at the Federal High Court in Abuja but the court refused the bail application.
