South-South politicians behind Avengers - Mohammed

27 June 2016, 07:01

Abuja - Outspoken Northern politician, Junaid Mohammed has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to treat the Niger Delta Avengers as terrorists and believes that the militants were engineered by South-South politicians, Vanguard reports.

The former advisor to President Shehu Shagari, said that a civil war could break out if Buhari entered into negotiations instead of wiping out the militants.

Mohammed compared the militants to terrorist organisation, Boko Haram saying that it does not make sense to use military force against one and not the other.

He cited the demands of the militants as enough reason to pick up arms, with the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, already labeling them as highly unreasonable, as News24 Nigeria reported.

Commentators have also taken an opposite view saying that job opportunities is the only solution to wipe out the vandalism.
