Speaker Dogara pleads with government

11 December 2015, 09:54

Abuja - Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of the dangers of failing to fulfill its promises to the nation, Naij has reported.

While hosting Bauchi State governer Mohammed Abubakar, Dogara pleaded with the Nigerian government to deliver on its mandates or face disaster.

The Speaker reminded government officials that they were voted into office by an electorate who has been seeking change for a number of years and that this is something that should not be taken for granted.

Using Bauchi State as an example, Dogara recalled the overwhelming support that the ruling party received, citing a search for good leadership and a belief in the mantra of change that has been entrenched in the party's mandate.

Governor Abubakar called for unity between all groups within the state and asked that everyone involved pledge their support for the APC-led government so that change may be delivered to the Nigerian public, Punch reported.

Abubakar commended the Speaker for his commitment to uniting the polity and expressed optimism that all members of the State would fulfill the needs of its people.
