Stop accepting food scrutinized by DSS, IPOB tells Kano

02 April 2016, 06:35

Abuja – The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed that there are attempts by their leader Nnamdi Kanu's persecutors to kill him.

According to Naij, IPOB members said there was a "serious plan" to kill Kanu who has been in detention since last year.

IPOB said this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Mmezu and Dr Clifford Iroanya.

"There is a serious plan to kill Mr Kanu by his prosecutors who are confused on what to do about the charges they preferred against him… We have advised our leader to reject every food, including those brought by close family members because the DSS that always scrutinize his food before allowing it in as might poison the food," read part of the statement.

This comes a few days after Kanu made an appeal to the British government to intervene on his behalf and ask President Muhammadu Buhari to have him freed.

In a letter addressed to the UK, through his lawyer, Kanu described himself as a victim of travesty, claiming that his human rights continued to be violated.
