Suspected cultists set ablaze buildings in Lagos, 17-yr-old stabbed to death

31 December 2015, 09:43

Lagos - Suspected cultists set on fire two buildings on Sholanke Street in the Akoka, Yaba area of Lagos State in a reprisal attack, Punch reports.

The cultists were said to have arrived at about 07:30 on Wednesday on a reprisal attack after a 17-year-old student, identified as Rilwan was stabbed to death by a rival cult group.

The cultists stormed the house of the father of one of the rival cultists identified as Makayoko on Sholanke Street in the night and threatened to raze the building but for the intervention of the police.

The cultists, however, stormed the street at about 07:00 on Wednesday, locked the street gates and set fire to Makayoko’s father’s house.

Two police vans from the Bariga division were seen patrolling the street, and two fire service trucks driving out.

One of the residents of the razed apartment, Abu Abdullahi, said the hoodlums did not allow the firefighters to enter the area as they had locked the two gates.
