Suspected Fulani herdsmen hack pastor to death

06 July 2016, 14:21

Abuja - Suspected Fulani herdsmen have allegedly hacked a pastor to death in Obi town, Nasarawa State, Naij reports.

The deceased, Reverend Joseph Kurah, was the leader of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and is alleged to have been killed on Thursday.

The clergyman is said to have been surrounded by a group of thugs while cutting down trees for roofing wood, while those with him were chased away and ran to get help for the man.

Upon their return, however, the Reverend's mangled corpse is said to have been left lying in the spot where he had initially made contact with his assailants.

“They attacked him on his farm, cut off his arms and legs; then they chopped his head with a machete. I received a call on Thursday evening that my uncle, a pastor with ECWA was killed by Fulani herdsmen,” a unidentified man, claiming to be the nephew of the deceased, stated.

Church members have since pointed the finger at a farmer in the area who is alleged to have had an argument with the deceased over land, Morning Star News reports.

Reverend Kurah is survived by his wife and seven children.
