Tambuwal supports Dogara as Jibrin speaks with police

09 August 2016, 08:37

Abuja - Former House of Representatives Speaker Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has allegedly thrown his weight behind embattled current Speaker Yakubu Dogara, while he battles accusations regarding the padding of the 2016 budget.

According to a Naij report, Tambuwal is said to have been mobilising members within the House to support Dogara in his battle with Abdulmumin Jibrin, for Chairman for the House Committee on Appropriation.

In addition, Dogara has also enlisted the support of Abdulrahman Kawu-Sumaila, the senior special assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters.

Kawu-Sumaila is believed to be one of three former members of the House who have been working strategically to ensure that Jibrin does not secure a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue of the budget padding.

Jibrin is reported to have yesterday met with members of the police special investigation panel in order to submit documents and prove his allegations against Speaker Dogara, Punch confirms.

“Jibrin came with documents which he handed over to the SIP on Monday. It was obvious that he was well prepared to establish his allegations against the leadership of the House. He promised to bring more documents during the week,” a source was quoted as saying.
