29 January 2016, 11:22

Abuja - Former militant leader Government Ekpumupolo, commonly known as Tompolo, has agreed to appear before the Federal High Court in Lagos "at the appropriate time", Punch has reported.

Tompolo, who was issued with a bench warrant by the court, has been charged on numerous occasions by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for his alleged diverting of N34 million belonging to the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA), as well as his alleged laundering of over N22.6 billion.

Speaking through his Media Adviser and Consultant, Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo reiterated his innocence in the three-day bombing of pipelines in Delta State, saying that he was not party to the act.

Tompolo has since stated that officials from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have put the blame on him in order to divert attention from themselves.
