Tompolo is officially wanted - EFCC

12 February 2016, 06:43

Abuja - A former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekepemupolo, commonly known as Tompolo, has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Punch has reported.

The declaration follows two bench warrants issued against Tompolo by the Federal Court in Lagos, where he was formerly charged N45.9 billion fraud.

In an advertorial signed by Wilson Uwujaren, Head of Media and Publicity at the EFCC, Tompolo is described as a 47-year-old, dark-complexioned man from Okerenkoko in the Warri South-West LGA of Delta State.

Tompolo had previously, on February 8, brought an application before the court seeking to quash the bench warrant and arrest order issued against him in January.

The application has since been dismissed for lacking merit, with law agencies being ordered to produce Tompolo before the court on February 19.
