Traditional ruler threatens Melaye

28 July 2016, 16:19

Lagos - A traditional ruler, the Atapa of Itapa Ijesa, Dr. Olapade Agoro, has threatened to drag Senator Dino Melaye to court for damaging the reputation of the citizenry in the eyes of the world.

Agoro called for sanctions against Melaye, representing Kogi state, following his conduct on the floor of the Senate.

He described Melaye’s action against Senator Remi Tinubu as a dent on the citizenry and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said Melaye should be sanctioned as it would prevent any lawmaker from such shameful and graceful conduct.

News24 reported that Senator was accused of threatening to beat up and rape Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.

The two senators, who are members of the ruling APC, clashed during a Senate closed-door session last Tuesday.

Melaye had earlier claimed that he only referred to Senator Orulemi Tinubu as a stupid woman on the floor of the Senate during an executive session after she called him a dog and thug.

He denied ever using vulgar words against her or threatening physical harm towards Orulemi.
