Twelve suspected cultists arrested for beheading man

21 December 2015, 10:52

Abuja - Twelve men have been arrested by the Anti-Robbery Squad in connection with the alleged beheading of a man from a rival cult, Vanguard has reported.

Police officials from the Ebuta Metta LGA of Lagos State have labelled the suspects as serial killers, saying some of them had been previously arrested and charged to court but were subsequently released.

The men are believed to be from two rival cults named the Otto Boys and the Apapa Boys, both with bases in the Ebuta Metta area.

In a statement made to police, one of the suspects revealed that his gang (the Otto Boys) had killed four rival gang members, adding that a cutlass was used to behead the victim, Afeez Obokwu.

Obokwu's headless body was subsequently discovered along the highway at Oyingbo railway while the deceased's head was recovered from the Ebuta Metta LGA.

Since their arrest, the accused have admitted that the killing was part of a war of supremacy between the cults.
