Two killed as armed robbers attack bank in Osun

Osun - Two people were killed when armed robbers attacked a branch of Wema Bank in Ibokun, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, Thisday reports.

The bank’s guard and a resident of the town were said to have been shot dead during the incident.

The robbers numbering eight, stormed the bank on Tuesday evening and carted away huge amount of money from the bank’s vault in the operation which lasted two hours.

It was gathered that the robbers used dynamite to remove the bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM), which they took away after the operation.

A witness's account revealed that the robbers stormed the bank around 5p.m. after the bank had closed for the day.

He said the robbers, after looting the bank invaded the Ibokun Divisional Police Station, which is close by and shot sporadically to scare away the policemen on duty.

The policemen reportedly scampered for safety as the robbers went away with their loot.
