UK newspaper accuses Amaechi of stealing N142 bn

15 May 2016, 13:53

Abuja - A publication in the United Kingdom has taken yet another swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing his ally Rotimi Amaechi of stealing money.

According to Naij, Amaechi has been accused of bankrolling Buhari's presidential campaign, with the UK's Daily Mail describing him as an "ATM" because of his power to hand out large sums of money at short notice.

Amaechi is alleged to have misappropriated N40 billion of state funds into Buhari's presidential campaign, with reports indicating that he had paid for media, consultants and private jets.

Aside from N4,5 billion having been earmarked for upgrades to the President's official residence at Aso Rock, billions of naira are also said to have been set aside for building a VIP wing at a hospital used exclusively by Government officials.

Amaexhi has since denied all accusations being posed against him.
