US avails funds to promote Nigeria's heritage

18 November 2015, 15:08

Abuja - The United States Mission to Nigeria and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State has opened applications for funding to projects that promote Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

These will be awarded under the auspices of the 2016 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).

The AFCP was established to help countries preserve their cultural heritage and to demonstrate US respect for other cultures.

Projects selected to receive funding under this programme will advance US diplomatic goals and demonstrate the depth of US respect for the cultural heritage of the West African country.

“The fund is aimed at preserving cultural sites, objects, and forms of expression that have historical or cultural significance to the cultural heritage of Nigeria,” the US Mission stated in Abuja on Wednesday.
Grant awards may range from $10 000 to $200 000.

The deadline for submitting a proposal, in English, is December 31.
