Vehicle plunges into seven commuters at bus stop

06 January 2016, 09:20

Abuja - No fewer than seven commuters were left injured on Tuesday when a commercial bus carrying passengers plunged into them as they waited for their transport to arrive at the Berger bus stop, Isheri, in Lagos State, Punch reports.

It was learned that the brakes on the commercial vehicle failed, causing the vehicle to veer into passengers waiting at a roadside bus stop.

The victims of the crash were treated by the Lagos State Ambulance, while some of the injured were transported by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency to a nearby facility.

Some of the commuters at the bus stop were seen praying and pouring oil over a woman who had passed out as a result of the incident. The woman's husband had his legs crushed during the crash.

It was gathered that the driver fled the scene soon after the incident took place.

Mamud Hassan, LASTMA PR Officer, confirmed the accident, appealing to commercial drivers to have their vehicles checked regularly to avoid such incidents.
