WATCH: Aisha Buhari dares Fayose, arrives in US

04 August 2016, 12:01

Abuja - The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari on Wednesday evening arrived in Washington DC on a weeklong visit, Saharareporters reports.

Sources at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC said Buhari arrived on a British Airways flight from London.

Her visit is of tremendous interest in Nigeria where Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose alleged in June that Aisha Buhari was involved in the infamous Halliburton scandal, and is the “Aisha Buhari” mentioned in related court documents.

Governor Fayose asserted that Buhari could not enter the US, suggesting she would be arrested.

Aisha Buhari had cancelled her earlier scheduled trip to the United States of America for the World First Ladies Conference holding at Colorad according to News24.

Many had hoped Aisha Buhari would have used the opportunity of the visit to put to rest the controversies surrounding her name in the Halliburton bribery scandal.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State had earlier claimed that Aisha Buhari has been avoiding the United States because of her alleged involvement in the  scandal, reports News 24.

Rather than attend the conference, the President's wife has opted to perform the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.
