Abuja - Rodents and weeds have allegedly taken over the national secretariat of main opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a Punch report, the secretariat, located in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja, was observed as being blocked off by policemen since the premises had been vacated in May.
In-fighting between party factions has led to the building being abandoned, with a guard being permanently posted in order to keep law and order within the premises.

Even the chapel inside the compound was not spared, with weeds growing rampant on its frontage.
Rodents have been viewed running wild around the premises, with books and other valuable materials serving as food for the rats.
Construction workers who had been performing various repairs and upgrades to the premises have also abandoned ship, while citing non-availability of funds as their primary concern.
National Party Secretary, Ali Modu Sheriff, has expressed little concern over the condition of the building, stating instead that party members are not in a hurry to secure the property and move in.
