Why I stopped DSS operatives - Governor Wike

19 October 2016, 08:55

Abuja - Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has explained why he chose to intervene during the raid of a judge's home by operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS).

According to a Naij report, Wike claims that his actions were not aimed at preventing the arrest of the judge but instead making sure that the correct process was followed.

While accusing the current administration of trying to "kill" the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Wike stated that the deliberate efforts of the Federal Government to counter development in Rivers State would not work, Vanguard reports.

"They are repeatedly shifting the date of the re-run election, so that they can have a convenient time to rig. Nobody should be scared of their plan to use DSS and police to rig the re-run election," he said.

"The policeman that is carrying gun, how many people can he kill? In Turkey where they resisted the Army, are they not human beings? Nobody will circumvent the mandate of Rivers people."
