Woman scalds nursing mother with boiling water

29 December 2015, 07:41

Abuja - A woman has been arrested in the Isheri LGA of Lagos State after it was discovered that he had poured boiling water over her neighbor, who is a nursing mother.

The accused, Esther Williams, is said to have emptied a bucket of hot water onto her neighbor, Mabel Emwongo-Umoh, causing severe burns to her breasts and abdomen.

The victim has not been able to breastfeed her 2-month-old child since the incident occurred.

Mabel's husband, who identified himself only as Umoh, revealed that the accused attempted to escape after injuring the woman but he was able to apprehend her and hand her over to the police.

The victim explained that the assault came as a result of a fight that had broken out between her and Williams in front of her room. She disclosed that she was entering her room after her husband had separated the women, and subsequently had water thrown on her as her husband followed behind her.

Although the accused has since admitted to the assault, she has blamed the devil for her actions.
