Minna - Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger on Monday said eight PDP members had declared interest to contest for the governorship position in the state in 2015 polls.
Aliyu disclosed this at the ongoing 1st Niger State Investment Summit in Minna.
The governor said that while some of the aspirants had expressed their intention to him, others were still consulting.
He said some of the aspirants include his deputy, Ahmed Ibeto, the Commissioner for Works, Muazu Bawa and the Chairman, Wushishi Local Government area, Saidu Wushishi.

The governor said the development of having people from his cabinet interested for the governorship seat would ensure continuity of government programmes.
The governor said the aspirants were, however, advised to pick a consensus candidate for the position.
The PDP had zoned the governorship position to the Niger North Senatorial zone.
