Benin - The political tension in Edo State ahead of the September 10 governorship election in the state over the weekend heightened as thugs attacked the campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Godwin Obaseki at Illushi, near Ubiaja, in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The incident reportedly led to the abduction of five persons, while ten others were wounded, reports Vanguard
The APC candidate has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being behind the attack, according to Daily Post.
Narrating the incident, Obaseki disclosed that there was an earlier threat that the APC should not come to IIushi to campaign, but the party rejected the threat.

He called on the security operatives in the state to fish out the abductors, stating that the matter had been reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters at Ubiaja, Esan South East.
