Yenagoa - Six out of the 20 political parties that participated in the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State have demanded the cancellation of election in five local government areas of the state, reports Daily Trust.
The parties are demanding for the cancellation of polls in Sagbama, Nembe, Ekeremor, parts of Ogbia and Yenagoa.
The parties, which addressed newsmen on Tuesday under the aegis of Coalition of Progressive Parties, said beside the contentious Southern Ijaw poll, there was widespread violence and malpractices in the five local government areas.
The parties are Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), African Congress of Democrats (ACD), Alliance for Democracy (AD), Labour Party (LP), United Democratic Party and Hope Democratic Party.
Spokesperson of the group and state chairman of UPN, Silas Ikimi said their call became imperative in the interest of fair play, justice and peace.
