APC Senate caucus unites to save Amaechi

Abuja - Senators elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have agreed to form a united front to ensure that the former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi scales the screening process when the Senate resumes the screening and confirmation of ministerial nominees, reports Thisday

The APC senators have agreed to meet on Monday to harmonise their positions ahead of Tuesday’s sitting of the Senate.

The meeting would provide the platform for the APC senators to strategise and ensure that all members of the party in the Senate act in one voice on the day of Amaechi's screening in case the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attempts to frustrate his confirmation.

Part of the moves of the APC caucus is to use its slim majority to outvote senators of the PDP in the event of a division in the Senate.

Amaechi’s ministerial nomination has been stalemated over allegation of corruption.
