APC women leader urges unity among members

27 August 2013, 16:22

Abuja, Aug. 26, 2013 (NAN) The Interim National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sharon Ikeazor, on Monday urged members of the party to unite in order to contribute toward deepening democracy in the country.

Ikeazor gave the advice in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

She said that only a united APC would be victorious in the 2015 elections and help in consolidating the nation's democracy.

Ikeazor said that unity was imperative for the party’s success at all levels, adding that the party could not afford to disappoint Nigerians.

The women leader also urged members of the party to work hard to realise the party’s agenda.

She appealed to members to ensure that they nominated credible and intelligent people as the party’s candidates for various elective positions.

“We have reached a critical moment in our nation’s history where leaders must never be chosen on the basis of tribe or religion.

“Let the leaders be chosen on the basis of what they can do and what food they can put on the table of the common man.”

“Change” was chosen as the slogan of the party in line with the yearnings of the majority of Nigerians for a change in the way things were being done in the polity,'' she stated.

She said that she had confidence in the leadership of the APC “because they are tested and trusted materials to make the difference.

“We want to change from a nation that relies on import to a nation that can also produce; we want to see the youths as a source of asset and also value to the quality of our human capital,” she said.

According to her, APC women will be well represented at all levels of the society and in government,

On the Anambra governorship election, Ikeazor said she was optimistic that APC would win the election.
