Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the federal government led All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to rig the forthcoming governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States, reports New Telegraph.
The party stated that the APC led federal government has deliberately debilitated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the extent that the commission can no longer perform its statutory responsibility because of lack of quorum.

Olisa Metuh, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary in a statement on Sunday, noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is trying to create a constitutional crisis and undermine the country’s democracy by refusing to forward replacements of retired INEC commissioners to the Senate for confirmation.
The PDP stated that the refusal of Buhari to forward names to the Senate for confirmation is putting the nation’s electoral system under severe threat.
The party also reiterated his earlier objection to the appointment of an Acting Chairman of INEC, describing it as an anomaly as there is no provision for an acting chairman of INEC in the country’s constitution.
