APC elects new chairman in Kebbi

13 May 2014, 13:45

Birnin Kebbi - The Kebbi State Chapter of All Progressives Congress( APC), on Monday elected Attahiru Maccido, as the new state chairman of the party.

The Chairman of the state congress committee, Danbuba Mohammed, said on Monday in Birnin Kebbi that Maccido scored 668 votes to defeat Atiku Bunu who had  598 votes.

He said the committee did its best to ensure transparency and justice during the election stressing that an appeal committee of the party would settle any dispute over the Congress.

However, Mohammed Bawa, an agent of Atiku Bunu, alleged that there were  indications of rigging during the process and declined to sign the result of the election.

He said that 1 252 votes were cast during the election, with 668 voting Attahiru Maccido out of which seven votes were invalidated while 598 voted for Atiku Bunu.

"When you add 668 and 598 you will have 1 266 not 1 252.

"We would exhaust our appeals to ensure success. We do not have confidence in them, we want avoid re-occurrence of want happened to us while in CPC.

"Our party, the then CPC, was dissolve into the PDP at the last minute of the election. We would not allow it repeated again," he said.

Sani Dododo, and Sani Zauro APC chieftains in Kebbi urged members to resolve their differences and work for the success of the party in the 2015 elections.
