APC entices defecting PDP members with re-election

29 November 2013, 14:43

Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC)  is promising any lawmaker and governors who defects from the ruling People’s Democratic Party(PDP) with automatic tickets to contest in 2015, Thisday reports.

This decision was reached in a  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that spelt out the terms for members of the PDP to join APC.

A senior APC source, who gave details of the MoU, said the it guaranteed automatic tickets to members of the federal, state assemblies and eligible governorship candidates to contest again in the 2015 elections.

But in a bid to rationalise the decision by five of its former aggrieved governors, along with other members of the ruling party to join APC, the PDP yesterday insisted that there was no merger between the faction of the party, stating that what happened was carpeting crossing by its disloyal members.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, PDP said that the decision of the governors and other members of the party who defected to APC was a rushed action motivated by blind ambition and vain glory.
