APC excludes APGA in logo decision

14 February 2013, 12:03

Abuja - The All Progressives’ Congress (APC) on Wednesday excluded All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in logo decision as a result of the division in APGA.

The Acting Spokesman of APC,  Lai Mohammed, gave the explanation when he addressed newsmen in Abuja after the meeting of the ACP Merger Committee.

‘We realise the situation of APGA and appreciate the fact that APGA is factionalised.

“Therefore, it will not be proper for us to take any of the symbols of APGA as part of the logo of APC,” he said.

Mohammed maintained that APGA could take APC to court if the APGA symbol was used in the APC logo.

“Because of the factionalisation in APGA, they will take us to court and that is why we are now differing the announcement of the logo until the time when they will be able to go back home and explain.

Mohammed said that APC was not perturbed about the crisis within the APGA, adding that the APGA faction would report back on Tuesday.

‘’What is important is this political will; no impediment will stop this merger,” he said.

According to Mohammed, the level of progress in APC has been able to surprise Nigerians.

‘’By our own record, we have two months ahead of our schedule. We never even thought that we would be able to arrive at a common name until the end of march,” he said.

The acting spokesman said that the committee had made very tremendous progress.

“We agreed on the setting up of various committees to decide the party manifesto, constitution, INEC deadline, among others,” Mohammed said.

He stated that the members of the committee had agreed on what would be the logo of the party.

‘’What I have seen in all our deliberations throughout today is the extent people are ready to make sacrifices, how people are ready to bend backwards to ensure that this merger works,’’ he added. (NAN)
