APC lawmakers celebrate Aregbesola's victory

11 August 2014, 12:34

Osun - Members of the House of Representatives, under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) have congratulated Rauf Aregbesola for his victory in the just-concluded Osun State gubernatorial election.

The APC Caucus Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, in a statement, saluted the people of Osun for retaining Aregbesola in office in the face of alleged oppression by so-called external forces.

“His Excellency Rauf Aregbesola for you, it is veni vidi vici (Latin for ‘to come’ ‘to see’ ‘to conquer'). You came you saw and you conquered. In spite of the forces unleashed against you, your victory was sweet and swift just as it was inevitable,” said Gbajabiamila.

“On behalf of my APC colleagues in the House and all progressives, I congratulate you as you continue to lead the state and good people of Osun to the Promised Land for the next four years. Indeed God is with you and with Nigeria,” he added.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Aregbesola won in 22 out of 30 local government areas of the state to defeat his main challenger, Senator Iyiola Omisore, of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP), who won in eight local government areas.

Allegations of intimidation and vote rigging marred the run-up to the polls.
