APC lawmakers dare Fayose over arrest

Ado Ekiti - The embattled Speaker of the Ekiti State House of  Assembly, Adewale Omirin has reacted to the directive of Governor Ayodele Fayose authorising the Commissioner of Police to arrest the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers that sat in a plenary last Friday in the state capital, Ado Ekiti reports Punch.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi, Omirin said the APC lawmakers acted within the law to conduct its sitting in a public building in the state.

He stated that neither the governor nor the police can arrest them for performing their constitutional duty.

He maintained that Ekiti State has just one House of Assembly and dared the seven Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers to approach the National Assembly or the Judiciary for recognition.

He urged the Commissioner of Police not to allow himself to be dragged into political fray in Ekiti State.
