Yenagoa - Over 1 000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State on Sunday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2015 governorship election in the state, reports Punch.
The defectors were led by two prominent members of the APC, Senator John Brambaifa and Alex Ekiotenne.
The defecting members, comprising 800 delegates at the APC governorship primary election held on August 22 and August 29 declared for the PDP at a ceremony which took place at Peace Park, Yenagoa.

They were received at the venue by Governor Seriake Dickson; Deputy National Chairman, PDP, South-South, Cairo Ojuigbo; Acting State Chairman, PDP, Serena Dokubo-Spiff; Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah (retd.), among other PDP leaders
Dickson said the action of the former APC members has sounded the death knell of the APC in the State, adding that some of them were key leaders who led the mass movement to the opposition party.
It would be recalled that Brambaifa and Ekoitenne were among the arrow heads of the recent mass defection of PDP heavy weights to the APC at the Sampson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa.
