Abuja - Senators elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have vowed to resist attempts by their colleagues from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to disqualify President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees when confirmation hearing opens on Tuesday, reports Daily Trust.
The senators noted that all the nominees are qualified and suitable for the federal cabinet in line with the Constitution of the country.
The APC senators, who spoke through the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, said the interest of the country should be the utmost interest of everybody.

He stated that while the APC senators would not prevent the PDP senators from asking questions from the senators, they will, however, not allow them to use any selfish interest to push down the ministerial nominees.
The Senate Thursday approved guidelines for confirmation of ministerial nominees, which gave PDP senators enormous powers over who becomes a minister from their states.
One of the guidelines requires nominees to get the backing of at least two senators from their states before they can be confirmed by the Senate.
