APC set to begin registration of members in Zamfara

04 February 2014, 14:22

Gusau - The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara said it had concluded arrangements to register a minimum of 251 600 members in the next five days in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji, told newsmen in Gusau on Monday.

Birnin-Magaji said  the party had set up committees toward the smooth conduct of the exercise, in response to the directives of the party's national headquarters to conduct registration.

He said monitoring committees had already been set up at the ward, local government and state levels for the exercise, which he said would commence nationwide on Wednesday, February 5.

He added that 100 persons were expected to be registered at each of the 2 516 polling units spread across the 147 wards in the 14 local government areas of the state.

On the issue of security, the commissioner expressed confidence in the ability of security operatives in the state to ensure a rancour-free exercise.
